Adequately Resource Police to Assist Traditional Rulers Combat Drug Abuse, Teenage Pregnancy - Queen Mother on Central Gov't

Queen mother of Abura, a suburb of Cape Coast in the Central Region, Obaahemaa Ekua Okutta lll has fumed at the alarming surge of teenage pregnancy and drug abuse among youths in the country, particularly in Cape Coast. 

Devising means by which security agencies can assist traditional rulers to combat the wayward lifestyle most Ghanaian youth seems to have embraced, the amiable queen mother implored government to offer adequate resources to state agencies like the police to patrol youths often seen during odd hours off the streets of the country.

Obaahemaa Ekua Okutta lll asserted this in an interaction with the media following the launch of the 2025 Abura Ahobaa Afahye dubbed "Partnership for Peace and Development."

She, however, cited parental negligence as the main contributor to the nation's rise in substance abuse and teenage pregnancy.

According to her, majority of parents within the country often goes to bed unconcern, leaving their children to roam about and further instruct them on top to lock the door when coming to bed. An act the queen mother underscores questionable so far as parenting is concern.

She again cautioned parents to desist the act of usually asking their school going children of money and other basic amenities they ought to rather provide them as parents.

The Abura queen mother observed that should parents often seek to ask their teenage children, most especially girls for money, subsequently offer them the advantage to folic around in other to stand the test to provide for such parent whenever the need arises, which later turns to jeopardize the children's future through unwanted pregnancies.
