The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has officially recognised Ghanaian boxer as the IBF Continental Africa Featherweight Champion following his impressive victory over Holy Dorgbetor in Accra.

In a formal letter dated January 12, 2026, and issued from the Office of the President of the IBF in New Jersey, the world boxing body confirmed Laryea’s status as continental champion after his win on December 20, 2025, describing the triumph as proof of his quality and champion mentality.

The IBF commended Laryea for achieving the accolade and expressed confidence in his ability to represent the organisation with honour, distinction and integrity going forward.

The letter also indicated that the federation will, in due course, engage the boxer regarding future mandatory title defences.

The correspondence was signed by Carlos Ortiz Jr., Vice Chairman of Championships at the International Boxing Federation, with IBF President Daryl J. Peoples, Championships Chairman George Martinez, and Ratings Chairman Ben Keilty copied.

Laryea’s recognition adds another significant milestone to Ghana’s rich boxing history and places him firmly on the continental map as he eyes bigger opportunities on the international stage.
