Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government has allocated GH₵150 million to the national men’s senior football team, the Black Stars, to support their participation in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.
Addressing Parliament during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement on Thursday, 13 November 2025, Minister Forson stated the allocation will “ensure the national football team has the necessary resources to compete effectively on the global stage.”
This announcement forms part of a broader spending plan in the 2026 budget, which emphasizes key investments in national priorities including sports development and international representation.
