Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging Ghanaians travelling to Senegal to prioritise recommended vaccinations as part of preparations for their journey, even though proof of vaccination is not mandatory for entry.

In a public announcement issued in Accra on April 7, 2026, the Ministry clarified that the advisory is based on guidance from Senegalese authorities regarding health requirements for foreign travellers.

According to the statement, vaccines against diseases such as Yellow fever, DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus), measles, and hepatitis A and B are strongly recommended to safeguard the health and safety of travellers.

However, the Ministry stressed that presenting vaccination certificates for these diseases is not a compulsory condition for entry into Senegal.

“The vaccination measures are recommended solely for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of travellers,” the statement noted.

The Ministry further encouraged all Ghanaian travellers to take note of the guidelines and ensure they are medically prepared before departure, adding that the move is aimed at enhancing the safety of citizens abroad.

It reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Ghanaians travelling overseas and urged compliance with all entry and health requirements of destination countries.
