Former Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia recorded an overwhelming victory in the Wenchi constituency, polling 491 votes to decisively outclass his contenders in a race that quickly turned into a one-man show.

‎The results, released at the close of counting, paint a picture of dominance in the constituency.

‎Dr Bawumia’s closest challenger, Kennedy Agyapong managed 145 votes, while Bryan Acheampong followed distantly with 66.

‎The rest of the field barely made a progress, with Yaw Adutwum securing 8 votes and Kwabena Agyei Agyapong registering just one.

‎From the first batch of ballots to the final tally, it became increasingly clear that Wenchi had firmly thrown its weight behind Dr Bawumia.

‎The scale of the victory not only cements his authority in Wenchi but also sends a powerful signal beyond the constituency.

‎With such a commanding performance, all eyes now turn to how this momentum will shape the broader contest in the days ahead.

‎Today, January 31, 2026, over 211,000 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) voted to elect their flagbearer for the December 7, 2028 presidential election.
