The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong has raised concerns over the transportation of ballot papers ahead of the party’s 2026 internal elections, calling for heightened vigilance from the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Ghana Police Service.

In a press release issued on Friday, the camp disclosed that intelligence gathered by its security team suggests that the EC does not have adequate vehicles to transport ballot papers to all 276 constituencies nationwide.

“As a result, the EC is deploying private vehicles approved with EC stickers and accompanied by EC officials under police escort,” the statement said.

However, the campaign alleged that isolated incidents have been recorded in parts of the Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra regions, where ballot papers were allegedly moved without the use of approved vehicles.

“There have been isolated cases spotted in the Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra regions where some ballot papers are being transferred without the approved vehicles,” the release noted.

The camp called on the EC and the Ghana Police Service to take immediate steps to safeguard the electoral process.

“We call for extreme vigilance from the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission, and we ask that the right measures be put in place to ensure the election is free and fair,” the statement stressed.

It also warned against the circulation of old videos from the 2023 presidential primaries, describing such acts as potentially destabilizing.

“We strongly guard against any intimidation tactics and urge all stakeholders to refrain from circulating such videos,” the camp stated.

Reaffirming its commitment to internal party democracy, the team emphasized that the NPP flagbearer contest must remain free from interference.

“Delegates must be free to choose their preferred candidate without any form of interference,” the release added.

The campaign further assured the public that its security monitoring remains active, reiterating its commitment to a transparent electoral process.

“Our intelligence gathering remains active on the ground, and we assure the general public of our commitment to a free, fair, and transparent election process,” the statement said.

The press release was issued on behalf of the Security Coordinator, Col Serebour, and signed by Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Spokesperson for Security and Intelligence of the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team.
