The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has marked the first anniversary of Ghana’s December 7 election with a message of gratitude, determination, and renewed commitment to his administration’s #ResettingGhana agenda.
In a statement issued by the Presidency Communications Directorate, Mahama reflected on the “anxiety, hope, and unwavering faith” displayed by millions of Ghanaians during last year’s polls, praising citizens for standing “determined to reclaim our future.”
The president thanked Ghanaians for believing in his vision to “Build the Ghana We Want” and extended special appreciation to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing them as “the heartbeat of this victory.”
Mahama credited polling agents for safeguarding the electoral process, saying their vigilance helped counter attempts to subvert the will of the people.
He also applauded the NDC’s election management and campaign teams for strategies that proved “unshakeable” in the face of political manoeuvring.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, Mahama emphasized that his administration is working to build “a Ghana for ALL our people, without discrimination, without exclusion, without favouritism.”
He described the national development agenda not as a deferred dream but as “a promise in progress.”
The president highlighted ongoing efforts to restore hope, create opportunities, and rebuild public trust in institutions. He noted that Vice President Naana Jane and the government are working daily to advance the #ResettingGhana agenda.
Addressing NDC supporters directly, Mahama urged them to remain steadfast, stating that their reward lies not merely in appointments but in building a nation where justice prevails and hard work is rewarded.
“The journey continues. The work goes on,”he said in closing, expressing gratitude to both Ghana and the NDC.
The anniversary message underscores Mahama’s intention to maintain momentum behind his reform agenda as his administration enters its second year.
