President John Dramani Mahama has assured that Ghana will remain peaceful, stable and just.

He says his administration will do all it can to defend the peace of Ghana.

President Mahama said this after handing over 40 advanced armoured vehicles to the Ghana Police Service, emphasising the government’s commitment to strengthening internal security and protecting citizens.

Speaking at the National Police Headquarters in Accra, he said, “Today, as we hand over these 40 advanced armoured vehicles, we are renewing our covenant with the people of Ghana. That this nation will protect its citizens, that peace will be defended, and that Ghana will remain secure, stable, and just,” President Mahama said.

The President disclosed that the 40 vehicles are only the first batch of new equipment, announcing that by the end of December, the Police Service will receive two tow trucks, 10 covert operational vehicles, and specialised drone training for a dedicated police detachment.

President Mahama stressed responsible use of the new assets: “These equipment are expensive and hard to procure. So, you must use them judiciously and according to the rules. Your safety is important. Always follow the safety instructions, wear seat belts. Use them professionally, lawfully, and ethically,” he said.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, emphasised Government’s determination to build a modern, intelligent, and well-equipped internal security architecture. He warned that attacks on security personnel would no longer be tolerated and would be met with a firm and decisive response.

Hon. Muntaka also urged police officers to use the new vehicles and resources to serve the public with professionalism, discipline, and integrity, and to avoid abusing their authority.

Receiving the vehicles, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh-Yohunu thanked the President for his unwavering commitment to retooling the Ghana Police Service. He assured the President of dedication and commitment from all Police Officers in the executing of their duties.
