Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwth, presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana’s immediate past Education Minister has drawn the NPP’s attention to the fact that a flag-bearer who can really take the party to power does not need more than one attempt to do so.

‎According to Dr. Adutwum, a good candidate like him can win power for the NPP with his maiden appearance, stressing that the party should choose him to lead in the 2028 election to burn out the misconception about 3rd and 4th attempts before winning power for party.

‎Dr. Adutwum contends that former President Busia did not run the presidential contest for a 2nd or 3rd time before winning power referencing further that Dr. Adutwum as an NPP candidate does not need more than one attempt to win the presidency for the NPP.

‎Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia who lost the 2024 elections to President John Mahama and seeking re-election to lead the NPP for the second time has been going round to claim that the records of the NPP establish that a first time for any candidate of the NPP resulted in defeats.

‎He has since cited Prof Adu Boahene in 1992 former President Kufour in 1996 and Nana Akuffo Addo in 2008 and 2012.

‎But addressing NPP delegates at Bechem in the Tano South Constituency of the Ahafo region, Dr. Adutwum said, there is nothing wrong with supporters backing a candidate from their home region and argued that he is well-positioned to unite the party and win the presidency..

‎Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, also the MP for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region, was in the Ahafo Region to present to NPP delegates his “Message of Hope” and the hope agenda with which he can wrestle the presidential seat from the NDC and to transform Ghana through poverty eradication.

‎He further reminded the party that the performance of the NPP in its traditional strongest holds in the 2024 elections especially in the Ashanti region needs to be given a critical look adding that all the first time presidential aspirants won by doing well in the party's strong holds in the country.

‎In the Tano North Constituency, scores of NPP delegates praised Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum for the great performance at the education ministry which formed the NPP’s only main campaign message in the 2024 election.

‎They expressed hope in Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum’s policies for party members and for transforming the country when elected as president. They praised his way of campaigning, saying, "it is issue and policy-based."
