Some political actors in Sunyani, the Bono Regional capital have described the vetting of the Chief Justice nominee, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as affront to the rule of law, and welcome the subsequent walkout by the minority in parliament.
The minority in parliament on Monday walkout during the vetting of the president nominee following a misunderstanding which erupted between the two political sides.
Commenting the issue, the political actors told Sompa FM in an interview in Sunyani on Tuesday the vetting process cast a slur on the nation’s judicial system.
According to them they were surprised that the suspension of the Chief Justice Getrude Torkornoo was still pending in court, wondering why parliament could conduct vetting of the president nominee as the case of the suspended Chief Justice remained in court.
Mr Emmanuel Armah, a dealer in electrical and home appliances described the suspension of Chief Justice Torkonoo as politically motivated, however added that parliament should have waited for the outcome of the court case.
Ebenezer Kwame Amo, a phone dealer said he agreed with the minority walkout, saying the vetting of the president chief justice nominee was an insult to the judiciary and the rule of law.
