Election 2024: I didn’t perform poorly in Zongo communities – Bawumia

Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has dismissed allegations that he performed poorly in Zongo communities during the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia described such allegations as baseless propaganda.

 

Speaking at a party gathering in the Adansi Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia stated that narratives suggesting Muslims and Zongo voters abandoned him in the last election were not supported by evidence.

“The propaganda out there is that Muslims and the Zongo people did not cast their votes for Dr. Bawumia. When I heard it, I asked, ‘Where is the data to support these claims?’ Because for me, if you tell me something, I need data to prove whether it’s true,”

“Recently, one presidential aspirant claimed that in the Zongos, Dr. Bawumia won only one polling station in the entire country.
