President Mahama has assured that no member of his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will interfere in prosecution of suspects or investigation of corrupt cases.

“Despite the fact that pleas and pressure are coming from the public that punishment has to be meted and this must be done properly, some among us are busy trying to cut deals with people who are supposed to be prosecuted,” he said at the 5th Annual General Conference of NDC lawyers.

At a media encounter with the President on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Host of The Key Points and Ghana Tonight on TV3, Alfred Ocansey sought to find out the President’s response to the claim by his party’s General Secretary.

Responding to the question, the President pledged to ensure that any interference from any party member in ongoing investigations does not manifest.

“I can assure you that there’s no way anybody can interfere. I cannot be in people’s mind to stop them from attempting to interfere but I am responsible for making sure that interference comes to nought.

“And so, I closely monitor, I hold regular meetings with the Attorney-General, he briefs me on the status of investigations and so I am confident that the cases will go ahead based on their merit and that nobody will have the opportunity to interfere,” he stated.

President Mahama further added: “If anybody goes lobbying or paying people to interfere, they are probably throwing away their resources. All cases will be investigated and come to their logical conclusion.”
