His Royal Majesty Oseadeeyo Dr. Frimpong Manso IV has appealed to the devoted people of Akyem Kotokuman, urging them to lend their unwavering support to the government’s efforts to effectively sanitize the practices surrounding illegal mining, which has been a contentious issue in the region.
During his address at the launch of an innovative cooperative mining scheme, part of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOSDEP), which aims to foster sustainable practices and enhance the skills of local miners, he conveyed his heartfelt message to the community gathered in Akyem Kotoku in the Eastern Region.
HRM Oseadeeyo emphasized that the lands in question rightfully belong to the chiefs, reinforcing the importance of traditional leadership in the stewardship of natural resources.
He assured the local populace that if any community desires to engage in mining activities, there should be no cause for alarm or panic, as careful and responsible mining practices can coexist with the community's welfare and environmental preservation.
