A Philanthropist, Mrs Grace Jemima Antwi has handed-over educational facilities 300-bed capacity girls' dormitory to the Nkyeraa Senior High School (SHS) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.
Hitherto, Sompa FM learnt that both the male and female students of the school shared the same dormitory block.
Mrs Antwi and her family constructed the facilities furnished with ceiling fans, student beds and mattresses and has 19 standard washrooms and recreational hall at the cost of GH¢3.85 million.
Attached to it are two residential apartments for the teachers.
Additionally, Mrs Antwi offered scholarships to five students who excelled in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSE) in the area to further their education.
Mr Kwasi Frimpong, a relation to Mrs Antwi, a native of Nkyeraa, a farming community, handed-over the keys to the facility to the school authorities at a ceremony held at Nkyeraa, near Wenchi.
Mrs Veronica Amponsah, the Headmistress of the Nkyeraa SHS expressed appreciation to the donors, saying that: "The gesture will forever remain in telling the history of the school".
She said the school was one of the least endowed second cycle institutions in the region confronted with several challenges including inadequate classrooms and lack of teachers' bungalows.
