The Vice President of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has reiterated the government’s commitment to improving transportation across the country through efficient and accessible public transport systems.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of 100 new buses for Metro Mass Transit Limited in Accra, the Vice President stated that the initiative forms part of efforts to reduce transportation challenges, improve passenger comfort, and support economic activities nationwide.
According to her, the addition of the new buses will help ease the burden on commuters by expanding transport services and ensuring safer and more reliable travel for Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, praised President John Dramani Mahama for the intervention, describing it as a major step toward addressing the country’s transport crisis.
He noted that the provision of the 100 new Isuzu buses will also help reduce the financial burden on citizens by offering affordable and dependable public transportation through Metro Mass Transit.
The event brought together government officials, transport sector stakeholders, and management of Metro Mass Transit, who welcomed the initiative as a boost to Ghana’s public transport system.
He further highlighted that government will soon commission more buses to other transport sector like STC and others to help ease more transport crisis.
