Minister For Lands Has Praise GGSA for Their Good Works

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, the Hon Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the contributions made by the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA).

He said this event which has brought Stakeholders Engagement on the Draft Legislative Instrument, which was held today in Accra, discussions surrounding the future of geological management were deeply explored.

When Hon Buah was given his address, he emphasized the importance of this particular moment, referring to it as a moment of truth for the draft legislative instrument, which he believes is fundamentally the key to unlocking the immense potential of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority.

He added that this initiative signifies a much-needed opportunity for the GGSA to receive the vital support necessary to create a tangible and meaningful impact within the sector.

The provisions outlined in the proposed instrument appear to be extensive and meticulously crafted, encompassing a wide range of critical areas including geological mapping and the establishment of regulatory frameworks that are essential for the sustainable management of geological resources.

Moreover, it is particularly commendable that there is a strong emphasis on responsible mining practices, environmental protection measures, and considerations for construction safety, all of which are integral to the well-being of the communities involved.

The Minister conveyed that the significance of the GGSA's role extends far beyond the technical realm; it permeates the everyday lives of citizens across Ghana, thereby delivering a powerful message that encourages stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the final version of this instrumental document for the betterment of their country.

After that the Director General of the Ghana Geological Survey Authority, Dr. Prosper Aduah Akaba, further elaborated on the responsibilities of the agency by emphasizing that in order to effectively fulfill their mandate as outlined in the Ghana Geological Survey Authority Act of 2016, specifically Act 928, it is essential for the minister to consult with and seek the counsel of the governing board of the authority.

He finally stated that this collaboration is for developing comprehensive regulations that will ensure the effective execution and operationalization of the activities and goals set forth by the authority, ultimately leading to better management and utilization of Ghana’s geological resources.
