The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects, including a gang leader, in connection with a robbery attack that resulted in the death of a player from Berekum Chelsea.
According to a police update shared on the Service’s official Facebook page, the arrests were made following an intelligence-led operation targeting individuals linked to the incident.
Police revealed “one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries during an exchange of fire with a police intelligence team.”
The injured suspect has since been transported to a hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard.
The robbery incident, which has shocked the football community and the general public, led to the tragic loss of the Berekum Chelsea footballer, though authorities have yet to release further details about the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Police Service assured the public that further updates will be provided as efforts continue to apprehend any other accomplices involved, urging citizens to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
