Member of Parliament for Banda Constituency and Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has assured Ghanaians that President John Dramani Mahama is prepared to sign the LGBTQ bill once it is passed by Parliament.
Speaking to the media, he explained that the bill is currently under parliamentary consideration.
According to Ibrahim, Parliament is presently on recess and is expected to resume next month to continue deliberations on the legislation.
He added that the Parliament of Ghana, under the leadership of the Speaker, has indicated that the bill is likely to be passed before the end of the year.
Ibrahim emphasized that once the bill is passed and presented to the President, he will not hesitate to give his assent.
He also dismissed claims by sections of the Minority that President Mahama has disappointed Ghanaians on the issue, insisting that such assertions are unfounded.
