The New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency communication officer for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Albert K. Asiedu (A.K. Yesu), has urged the government to reconsider its decision to increase fuel prices on April 1, 2026, citing the hardship it will cause Ghanaians.
"The current situation is already tough, with cocoa farmers struggling, drivers struggling - everyone is struggling," he said.
A.K. Yesu noted that the fuel price hike will exacerbate the difficulties faced by Ghanaians, and transport operators will be hit hard.
He referenced the Africa Sustainable Energy Centre's warning about Ghana's energy security being at risk due to global geopolitical tensions, emphasizing that the government should prioritize Ghanaians' welfare.
He also highlighted the plight of cocoa farmers, calling on the Cocobod to ensure they are paid fairly. "If the government increases fuel prices, all businesses will collapse," he warned.
A.K. Yesu criticized the NDC government, saying they promised a better Ghana but are now governing as if they have nothing in mind.
He urged authorities to reconsider the fuel price hike and prioritize Ghanaians' well-being.
