A patient has tragically died following an ambulance crash in Bono Region on the night of March 19, 2026.
The incident occurred at Benu Nkwanta, near Sunyani, as the ambulance was transporting the patient from Juaboso Government Hospital to Sunyani Teaching Hospital.
Reports indicate that the vehicle ran into a heap of sand allegedly left by the roadside by ALEXIBOAM Construction.
The patient, who was said to be on oxygen during the transfer, died as a result of the impact.
The ambulance involved in the crash bears the registration number GR-4367-19.
An informant at the scene described the incident as distressing, saying, “The ambulance ran into the sand unexpectedly, and the impact was severe. The patient could not survive the shock.”
The incident has sparked renewed concerns over road safety, particularly the dangers posed by improperly placed construction materials along major roads, especially at night when visibility is limited.
