Headmistress of Pershie-Jira-Akyinim M/A Basic School in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region, Mrs. Pamford Ama Gyamfuah, has made a passionate expression of frustration over the lack of a computer and science laboratory for students at her school.
Despite the importance of computer literacy in today's digital age, the school has been unable to provide this essential resource for its learners.
Madam Pamford noted in an interview with Sompa TV's Eric Annan that "the absence of a computer lab hinders students' ability to acquire vital skills in technology education" and made a clarion call to all well-wishers to come to their aid.
According to the Headteacher, the school had a donor support which commenced the construction of an ICT lab project but came to a halt during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
She made this plea at the school's 65th anniversary celebration, dubbed, "65 Years of Quality Education: Honouring the Past, Celebrating the Present and Building a Formidable Future," having urged philanthropists, government officials, and other stakeholders to intervene and assist the school.
The celebration featured various activities, including a parade, speeches, and performances by students, as the event highlighted the school's commitment to community involvement and development with guests including Nananom, government officials, and education officials, emphasizing the importance of education in the community's growth and development.
The 65th anniversary celebration of Pershie-Jira-Akyinim M/A Basic School is a testament to the institution's dedication to providing quality education and its commitment to the community.
MCE for the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality, Hon. Ismail Zagoon Saeed upon gracing the occasion, promised that "the assembly will lead the charge for the school's computer and science lab completion hopefully in the coming year."
Hon. Wisdom Mensah, the Assembly Member of Bantuma Electoral Area also charged students and the parents to desist from activities that are not intended for formal educational purposes in order to achieve excellence in their pursuit for education heights.
