Three Arrested Over Murder of Abamba Queenmother

Police in the Bono East Region have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of the Queenmother of Abamba near Amantin in the Atebubu Amantin district.

According to a press release issued by the Bono East Regional Police Command on March 10, 2026, the suspects were apprehended through an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects have been identified as Rafiu Haruna, Muftawu Adamu and Michael Owusu Spermi.

The police said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to bring those responsible for the killing to justice.

“The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of the Queenmother of Abamba near Amantin in the Atebubu area of the Bono East Region,” the statement said.

The victim, identified as Nana Serwaa Asaamaa Kuma Gyan, was reportedly shot at her residence on February 25, 2026.

Police confirmed that the attack occurred at her residence located in the Methodist Church area in Atebubu.

“On 25th February 2026, Nana Serwaa Asaamaa Kuma Gyan, the Queenmother of Abamba near Amantin, was shot at her residence at the Methodist Church area in Atebubu,” the release stated.

Authorities say the three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

“The three suspects are currently in Police custody assisting investigations, while efforts continue to bring all perpetrators involved in the crime to justice,” the statement added.

The press release was signed by ASP Appiah Danquah, Staff Officer and Public Relations Officer for the Bono East Region.

Police say investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as the case develops.
