The Social Welfare Directorates in Sunyani have called on residents within their respective communities to remain calm and actively participate in the ongoing reassessment exercise under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.

The Municipal Director of Social Welfare for Sunyani West, John Kwaku Bofa, urged community members especially those identified as vulnerable to make themselves available for the exercise.

Speaking in an interview with Ama Konadu on the ‘Adea Akye Abia’ morning show on Sompa FM, Sunyani, Mr. Bofa emphasized that the reassessment is intended to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries continue to receive support under the programme.

“We want everyone to remain calm and get involved in the reassessment process, especially those whom the community recognizes as vulnerable,” Mr. Bofa stated.

He noted that the exercise forms part of broader measures to promote fairness, transparency, and efficiency in the implementation of the LEAP programme.

Also speaking on the initiative, the Municipal Director of Social Welfare for Sunyani East, Belinda Osei Mensah, described LEAP as a government social intervention programme designed to address the needs of vulnerable populations.

“When we talk about LEAP, it is a social intervention programme introduced by the government to address specific social needs such as school feeding, the disability fund, NHIS support, and direct cash transfers, among others,” she explained.

According to the municipal authorities, the reassessment exercise will strengthen the programme and ensure that limited resources are directed to those who need them most.

Residents are therefore encouraged to cooperate with officials and provide accurate information throughout the process.
