Mr Issa Baffoe, the Sunyani West Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service has launched the ‘Sompa Spelling Masters’, and commended the Sunyani-based Sompa FM, organisers for initiating the spelling contest.

Sompa Spellingmasters’ is student-oriented education program designed by TeraOne Media, operators of Sompa FM and Sompa TV. The Program is expected to enhance the spelling skills of students at the upper primary level of schools under the Bono regional Education directorate. Participants will have the opportunity to improve upon their spelling, pronunciation and reading skills in a fun but competing manner.
Management of the FM station is implementing the Sompa Spelling Masters to improve the reading skills of school children in 36 basic schools from the Sunyani and Sunyani West Municipalities.

Speaking at the launch held at the studio of the FM station located at the Sunyani Night Market enclave, Mr Baffoe laude the initiative and highlighted some of the benefits.
Madam Yaa Kumi, the Public Relations Officer at the Sunyani Municipal Directorate of Education noted that contest would greatly improve the pronunciations, spelling and reading skills in the participating schools.
