Deputy Majority Leader Welcomes New Year in Dinner with Constituency Children, Assures Economic Growth in 2026

The Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, has kicked start 2026 with a heartwarming gesture to children within his catchment area.

Hon. George Ricketts-Hagan in welcoming children in his constituency to the new year, has on Sunday, January 4, 2026, organized a feast to dine with school going persons to express pleasure through merry making for beholding 2026 safe and sound.

Amid the unforgettable celebration children of Cape Coast South Constituency from communities like Ola, Ekon, Brofuyedur, Ntin, Bakaano, Troom, Chapel Square, Anaafo, Bentir, among others were made to experience, were as well offered food items like packed rice with egg and sausages, drinks, biscuits, water, and santa hats.

Hon. George Justice Arthur, the Cape Coast Mayor at the event admonished joy, having passed through the ranks as former Constituency Secretary to become the Cape Coast Mayor, all thanks to education.

He then challenged children gathered at the event to aspire higher academic qualifications in other to fill in the gap to become the next Finance Minister, MP, Mayor and President in years to come, since no child can grow to become a valuable asset in the country without education.

Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, MP for Cape Coast South and Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament in his address underscored 2026 as a promising year for Ghana.

He emphasized that the ruling NDC government upon ensuring economic stability after assuming power in 2025, has put a lot of things in place to facilitate the country moves forward this year after inheriting a porous economy from the previous government.

The Deputy Majority Leader noted that Ghana in 2026 is about to take-off in jobs, infrastructure development, prosperity and natural and ordinary development, having had the right people in place to effect that transformative change.

He again implored the children to take their education seriously, embrace humility and respect to parental advise for a secured future.

Hon. Ricketts-Hagan further uncovered his unwavering commitment to educational advancement by promising an additional school bus to the one already in operation to freely transport students to their respective schools as undertaken for years now.
