Four persons lost their lives in a tragic road traffic accident on Christmas Eve along the Cape Coast–Twifo Praso Road.
The Twifo Praso Fire Station on Wednesday, 24th December 2025, indicated to have received a distress call at about 4:48pm reporting a vehicular accident at Twifo Ntafrewaso, where a rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
The team upon arrival, observed that a Hyundai Getz with registration number GW 7715-25, being used for commercial purposes, had veered off the road and crashed into a tree in a nearby bush while traveling from Twifo Mampong towards Twifo Praso.
Three persons were found trapped in the wreckage vehicle but were extricated by the Fire Service rescue team and were transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Prior to the arrival of the rescue team, one casualty had already been rescued by civilians and rushed to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital who was also confirmed dead.
Eyewitnesses at the scene indicated that the driver was overspeeding while negotiating a curve on the rainy afternoon, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The vehicle was completely wrecked as a result of the impact. The incident has once again raised concerns about speeding and road safety, especially during festive periods when vehicular traffic is high.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, reduce speed, and adhere strictly to road safety regulations to prevent further loss of lives.
