Mr Mustapha Mershark, the Unit Committee Chairman at the Baakoniaba Electoral Area in the Sunyani Municipality has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to extend the allowances of the Assembly Members to the Unit Committee level.
However, he commended the President for paying the Assembly Members allowance, as he promised in the Election 2024 campaign.
Mr Mershark said the allowances would not only motivate the AMs to work hard in mobilizing their constituents for development, but also position them well to engage the masses, identify and help tackle the emerging development needs of the local communities.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa FM in Sunyani, Mr Mishak, also the Manager of the Nobles College and Great Mammersh Preparatory School in the Municipality, said the unit committees also required allowance too.
Mr Mishark indicated that progressive and sustainable development remained collective responsibility and urged everybody to contribute his or her quota towards accelerated national development.
In that regard, he said he had personally funded the construction of toilet facilities for improved hygiene and sanitation at some deprived communities in the municipality.
