The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cautioned security officers in the Ashanti Region not to use his name to intimidate others, urging them instead to uphold professionalism and fairness in their duties.

Speaking during the introduction of the new Ashanti Regional Police Commander at the Manhyia Palace, the Asantehene reminded the Ghana Police Service that while the Jubilee House represents the seat of government, traditional authority remains central to peace and order in the region.

“Don’t let anyone intimidate you with my name,” the Asantehene said. “Anyone who mentions my name to influence you is not acting on my behalf. Do your work without fear or favour.”

Commendation

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended the outgoing commander for his service and urged the incoming one to maintain neutrality in politically sensitive matters, especially as Ghana heads into a busy political season.

He emphasized that cooperation between the Manhyia Palace, the Police Command, and the Jubilee House is vital to sustaining law and order, particularly in the Ashanti Region — the heart of Ghana’s chieftaincy and political influence.

“You serve the state through the Police Service, and the state is represented by Jubilee House,” he said. “But remember that Manhyia Palace is also part of that authority structure. Let there be mutual respect and understanding.”

The Asantehene also appealed to the police to show restraint in enforcing the law and to remain responsive to the needs of the public.

“Respect the people, protect them, and make sure your actions restore confidence in law enforcement,” he added.

Police shakeup

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno had announced new promotions and major postings affecting several senior officers as part of a nationwide reshuffle aimed at strengthening operational efficiency within the Ghana Police Service.

According to an internal circular dated 28 October 2025, and seen by Asaase News, the changes follow recommendations by the Police Transfer Board and take immediate effect.

The document confirmed the posting of newly promoted Commissioner of Police (COP) Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe from Ashanti Regional Command to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) at the national headquarters.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Arthur Osei Akoto will replace him as Ashanti Regional Commander, while DCOP Joseph O. Bempah moves to head the Eastern Region.

Other changes include DCOP Oduro Amaning’s transfer to the National Headquarters, DCOP Frank Abrokwah’s appointment to the Western Region, and DCOP Joseph Owusu-Ansah’s reassignment to the Bono East Region.
