The ongoing chieftaincy dispute at Sampa in the Jaman North Municipality has taken a new twist as the Sunyani District Court B has remanded three suspects linked to violent incidents in the area.
According to a press release from the Bono Regional Police Command, the suspects — identified as Alhassan Issah (also known as Crack, 25), Luis Kwame Antwi (alias Erikay, 24), and Yussif Ahmed (alias Plus 2) — were arrested following an intelligence-led undercover operation.
Police say the men were picked up at separate hideouts on November 4, 2025, while others believed to be involved are still on the run.
The trio appeared before the Sunyani District Court B on November 5, facing multiple charges including conspiracy to commit crime, causing harm, causing damage, assault, and stealing.
Presiding Judge His Worship Eric Danning, Esq, ordered that the suspects be remanded into police custody to reappear in court on November 10, 2025.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, confirmed the development and assured the public that the police remain committed to maintaining peace and order in the municipality.
The Sampa chieftaincy issue has been a source of tension in recent times, with authorities working to prevent further escalation.
Police have urged residents to stay calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
