According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Sunyani, the victim was rescued during an intelligence-led operation conducted by officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID). Ms. Fosua was found in good health at Berekum and has since been reunited with her family.
The incident was first reported by Mr. Samuel Amartey Laryea, the husband of the victim. He told the police that the couple had travelled to Kyeremasu on October 29, 2025, to attend a funeral.
On November 3, 2025, Mr. Laryea received a distress call from an unknown person claiming that his wife had been kidnapped. The caller allegedly demanded GH₵12,000 as ransom for her release.
“Due to fear of danger to his wife, the complainant sent GH₵2,000 to the kidnappers, but they failed to release the victim,” the statement said. He then reported the incident to the police.
Police investigations revealed that Ms. Fosua was abducted around 5:30 a.m. on November 3, 2025, when she left home to visit her husband, who was staying some distance away. She recounted that a black Toyota Corolla parked along the Akontanim road was used in the abduction.
“One of the suspects covered her mouth with a rag and dragged her into the car, later blindfolding her.
The victim was taken to a bush, physically assaulted, threatened, and stripped of her mobile phone. The suspects also forced her to disclose her husband’s phone number and her mobile money PIN,” the police report detailed.
The Bono Regional Police Command has assured the public that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the crime.
Speaking to the media, Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, commended the swift response of the intelligence team and urged the public to remain calm.
“We want to assure the public that the Police are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
We also encourage anyone with information that can assist our investigations to come forward,” Chief Inspector Akeelah stated.
The police have since intensified patrols and intelligence-gathering activities within the municipality to prevent similar incidents.
