C/R: 5 Perish in Gory Accident as 12 others Sustain Various Degrees of Injury at Wakrom near Yamoransa

A fatal car crash between a DAF Truck with registration number AW 9548-13 and a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle with registration number GC 9728-21 has led to the death of five (5) persons with 12 others sustaining several degrees of injury at Wakrom Junction near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway.

According to the Central Regional Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a team of rescue officers were dispatched to a distress call at the accident scene which occurred on Monday, September 15, 2025, around 2:45pm.

A report by Sompa TV's Eric Annan describes the accident to have occurred through a collision of the DAF Truck, loaded with 700 bags of rice and the Toyota Hiace commercial vehicle.

Report available indicates that 12 passengers were rescued and rushed to the hospital even before arrival of the GNFS rescue team who having arrived at the scene extricated five (5) other victims from the wreckage.

Accident victims upon rescued, were taken to the Biriwa Polyclinic and Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, where four (4) were pronounced dead shortly after one other was confirmed dead.

The incident which caused heavy traffic on the busy highway, fortunately saw the driver and mate of the DAF Truck escape unhurt with surviving victims still on admission at the hospital.
