The Central North Regional Police Command has rolled out a 24-hour policing strategy in support of the government’s flagship 24-hour economy initiative.

This was disclosed during an engagement between officers of the National Police Secretariat for the 24-Hour Economy and the Central North Regional Police Command in Assin Fosu. The meeting was held under the theme “Policing the 24-Hour Economy.”

Presenting the roadmap, Dr. Ishmael Nii Amanor Dodoo, Director and Head of Innovation, Partnerships, and Markets at the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, Office of the President, explained that the initiative aims to boost productivity, expand employment, and modernize Ghana’s economic structure by promoting round-the-clock business and public service operations.

He emphasized that such an initiative cannot thrive without a robust security framework, hence the engagement with the police to align on strategic measures.

Dr. Dodoo added that where economic activity grows, criminal elements also tend to emerge, making the role of the police vital in sustaining the gains of the 24-hour economy. He urged all stakeholders to embrace the initiative as a powerful tool for national transformation.

Responding to the call, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, Central North Regional Police Commander, said the police already operate on a 24-hour schedule and are ready to support the policy. However, he appealed for additional logistics and personnel to strengthen their operational capacity in line with the expanded scope.

The programme brought together district commanders and police personnel from across the Central North Region to Assin Fosu. Their participation underscored the importance of aligning local law enforcement strategies with the national 24-hour economy agenda.

The interactive session also provided a platform for sharing ideas, identifying security challenges, and mapping out collaborative approaches to ensure the safety and success of round-the-clock economic activities.
