Mayor for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. George Justice Arthur has implored original traders of under-construction Anafo Market in Cape Coast to shelve all forms of panic regarding fears of losing their place of trade after completion of the market project.
According to the Cape Coast Mayor, outmost priority will be set on original occupants of the old market when store allocation to traders is due before anyone else will be considered.
Hon. George Justice Arthur established this upon paying a visit to the site of the project contracted to Fine Job Company Limited together with contractors of the project to inspect how far the project has reach.
He further assured to have the market project fast-tracked, since about 25% of the disbursed common fund has been allocated by the John Mahama government to tackle legacy projects, having had the Anafo Market captured as one of the prioritized legacy projects in the metropolis.
Adding that he will ensure that the project is completed within the next two-three months to help enhance trade and boost the economy of the metropolis.
The Anafo Market which is about 60-70% complete, is a project undertaken by the previous NPP government under the auspices of the Coastal Development Authority (CODA), but has for years remained stalled due to fund allocation to contractors of the project.
Isaac Arthur, Managing Director for Fine Job Company Limited and the contractor in charge of the market project in highlighting challenges the project has previously suffered to remain stall, promised to give his best to complete the market in time should the ruling government set its priorities right in terms of financial allocation to the project.
