A disturbing report from the Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region reveals that a BECE candidate abandoned the exams to engage in illegal mining (galamsey) due to financial constraints. 

This decision highlights the challenges some students face, including poverty and the allure of quick financial gains.

A male student left the 2025 BECE to work in galamsey, citing financial difficulties as the reason.

Three other students were reported absent from another exam center, with their reasons unknown.

The Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Ohenewaa Ansu, expressed worry over the situation, urging remaining candidates to stay focused and confident during the exams.
