The Ministry of Health has revealed that over 8,000 health professionals recruitment is underway.
This move is part of broader, ongoing efforts aimed at fortifying healthcare delivery networks that span the entirety of the country, ensuring that all citizens have access to necessary medical services.
During a press briefing held in Accra, Mr. Frederick Mensah Acheampong, the Director of Human Resource for Health Development, stated the recruitment initiative.
He emphasized that this process is closely aligned with the core objectives embedded in the Free Primary Healthcare (FPHC) Policy.
This policy distinctly prioritizes preventive measures, community centric approaches, and robust primary healthcare services, with a particular focus on regions that have historically been underserved and lacking in sufficient medical resources.
Mr. Acheampong went on to mentioned the initiative's overarching goal to improve access to high-quality healthcare across the spectrum by systematically addressing the critical staffing shortages that have plagued the health sector nationwide.
By filling these gaps, the Ministry aims to provide a more reliable and effective healthcare service to all citizens.
Again the Ministry reported that the recently launched recruitment portal has already received an impressive influx of applications, with more than 53,440 submissions to date.
Among these, a significant number of applicants are Registered Nurses, making them the largest contingent vying for positions within the health sector.
This enthusiasm from healthcare professionals highlights the urgent need for staffing and the desire among medical practitioners to contribute to their communities.
In this developments, the Ministry has announced plans to briefly reopen the recruitment portal for a mop-up exercise.
This will specifically target filling remaining vacancies within critical categories, particularly for Registered Public Health Nurses and Mental Health Nurses, ensuring these essential services are adequately staffed.
In addition to the positive aspects of the recruitment drive, authorities have issued a stern warning to the public regarding fraudulent activities and illegal payments associated with the recruitment process.
They have noted that security agencies are actively investigating individuals who may be exploiting prospective applicants through deceitful means.
Mr Acheampong concluded by assuring the public that successful candidates will be carefully shortlisted and subsequently invited for interviews.
Following this process, final placements are set to be determined based on merit and the availability of positions, reiterating the Ministry's commitment to transparency and fairness in the recruitment efforts.
