Traditional authorities have fixed a new date for the final funeral rites and burial of the late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

The decision was reached after a sitting by Nananom, following the invocation of the Great Oath by the musician’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, against members of the family.

During the hearing held on November 10, 2025, at the palace of Nana Saaman Nantwi II, the Otumfuo Saamanhene, Brempomaa raised suspicions of possible foul play surrounding her brother’s death and requested that a postmortem examination be conducted before the funeral takes place.

As a result, Nananom resolved that the funeral would still go on but on a new date. They also directed that the matter regarding the postmortem be handled by the police to determine the actual cause of death.

The new date for the funeral has been scheduled for December 13.

Furthermore, the linguist explained that the question of whether any of Daddy Lumba’s wives would be allowed or barred from the funeral would be left for the court to decide.

In another directive, the traditional authorities dissolved the existing funeral committee with immediate effect.

The Dadiesoaboahene has been assigned to lead efforts aimed at bringing the family together to finalize all arrangements regarding the funeral of the late musician. Once these preparations are completed, the family is expected to formally brief Otumfuo on the agreed plans.

Initially, the family head had fixed December 6 for the burial and funeral rites, but the newly approved date pushes the ceremony forward by a week.
