A Senior Lecturer at the Department of History and Political Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye Boateng, has cast doubt on the readiness of former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, to lead the party into another electoral contest.
According to Dr. Amakye Boateng, the NPP must critically assess its leadership options ahead of future elections instead of assuming that Dr. Bawumia remains the party's strongest candidate. He stated that the party's recent electoral experiences should prompt deeper and moreĀ reflection on its direction and leadership strategy and goals
The political analyst againĀ stressed the need for unity, discipline, togetherness ,and internal reforms within the NPP, pointing that rebuilding public confidence should be a priority for the party. He has previously urged party leaders to focus on strengthening internal structures and addressing concerns among party members.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions within the NPP regarding its future leadership and preparations for upcoming electoral battles following the party's defeat in the 2024 general elections, where Dr. Bawumia contested as the party's presidential candidate.
The remarks are expected to spark further debate among party Supporters and political observers as the NPP charts its path toward the next election cycle.
