The Civil Service Council, led by its Chairman, Dr. Lawrence Kannea, has paid a familiarisation visit to the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI) on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing public service delivery in line with government’s national reset agenda.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Deputy Minister, Hon. Sampson Ahi, underscored the shared responsibility between government and the Civil Service in driving national development.
In a statement sighted at the official Facebook page of the Ministry, he called for fairness, discipline, and professionalism within the Service, stressing that the Trade Ministry remains a strategic institution in attracting investment and advancing Ghana’s overall development.
Hon. Ahi further highlighted the need to transform Ghana’s industrial base by boosting exports and creating sustainable employment opportunities.
He then urged, the Civil Service Council to continue providing the necessary support to enable staff to deliver efficiently and effectively, while commending management and staff of the Ministry for their contribution to government’s development agenda.
“We appreciate the hard work of management and staff who continue to complement the efforts of the political leadership in delivering on our mandate,” he acknowledged.
Describing the visit as innovative, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Noah Tumfo, briefed the Council on the Ministry’s operations, noting that it has a staff strength of over 350 and maintains presence in nine key international missions.
He also highlighted ongoing policy initiatives, including the Agribusiness Policy, which is in its final stages of development to strengthen the sector.
The Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Dr. Lawrence Kannea, also expressed appreciation to the Chief Director for his leadership and commended staff of the Ministry for their dedication and hard work.
He reiterated the pivotal role of the Ministry in Ghana’s economic transformation, noting that ongoing reforms and restructuring require collective effort from all stakeholders to yield meaningful results.
The Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, also emphasized the need to shift from the “Guggisberg economy” towards industrialisation to create wealth and employment.
“We are here to ensure that the public service delivers effectively so that the nation can develop,” he added.
Therefore, he stressed that the visit formed part of efforts to ensure that public bureaucracy is responsive, efficient, and development-oriented.
