Ginger sellers at the Nana Bosoma Central Market in the Sunyani Municipality have called for the intervention of the government, worrying about the influx of traditional medicine producers in the market.
They called on the government to do something to enhance ginger production, amid looming scarcity of ginger in the municipality, worrying about the skyrocketing price of ginger at the market.
During a visit to the Central Market in Sunyani on Wednesday, Mrs Attaa Henewaa noted that the market price of ginger was now expensive because traditional medicine producers were now bought ginger in larger quantities from growers at their farm gates.
She said because the traditional healers gave them good price, the growers always preferred to sell to them, a situation which was gradually contributing to scarcity of ginger at the central and other satellite markets.

Madam Faustina Kyeremaa, another ginger seller at the central market said ginger was now a scarce in the Municipality and that had slowed down their economic activities and called for government intervention.
