Alhaji Abass Imoro, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, the largest umbrella organisation for commercial drivers in the country says transport fares are likely to go up, effective Tuesday March 17.
He justified that the hikes in the lorry fares were not only based on increase in petroleum products, mentioning increment in the price of sparts parts, and insurance as some of the factors driving the increment in the transport fares.
Alhaji Imoro said this when he spoke on the Sunyani-based Sompa FM "Ade Akye Abia" morning show hosted by Ama Konadu on Tuesday.
Alhaji Imoro explained that the upward adjustment of lorry fares was not automatically, whenever there was increment in fuel.
